This fantastic palm produces the biggest seed in the entire plant kingdom, a single one weights 18 kilos. Its shape is really thought provoking.
Origin
Seychelles Islands in the Indian Ocean.
Habitat
Morphology
A very tall trunk, but not especially thick. Very big, fan-shaped, costapalmate leaves. Flower between the base of leaves. A very big fruit that takes 5 years to ripe.
Climate
Moist tropical.
Germination
Seeds take over one year to germinate.
Growing
Seeds are difficult to obtain and very expensive. Must be planted directly in its final place, since produces a very deep root.
