Morphology
This palm has several slender trunks with annular rings. Leaves are slightly costapalmate, with a long petiole and an irregularly divided blade, sometimes with spines in the margins. Fruits are ornamental, since they are covered with scales and have a bright red, reddish-brown, or reddish-orange colour.
