Licuala comes from the Molucco name “leko wala”. P. Ramsay first collected this palm.
Origin
Australia, North East of Queensland.
Habitat
Marshy areas along streams. Often forming big groups.
Morphology
A single trunk up to 15 m tall, and bright green, large, almost circular leaves up to 2 m in diameter, with a spiny petiole. Beautiful white leaves. Red to orange-red fruits. A palm with an impressive silhouette.
Climate
Subtropical, tropical, very warm temperate.

Growing
Requires good light, shelter, and regular watering. Avoid soil drying out. Recommended as indoor palm.
