Morphology
A single trunk around 15 m tall. The crownshaft is reddish and velvety. Very similar to D. leptocheilos, can be differentiated by the leaflets with a single or forked tip and a single main nerve. Fruits are ovoid.
Climate
Some cold resistance, but less than D. leptocheilos.
Germination
Easy with fresh seeds.
Growing
A very rustic and easy to grow palm, can thrive both in full sun and in light shade. Needs a moist but well drained soil. A quite slow grower.
