Coccothrinax refers to the seed (coccos) and to its similarity with other genus (thrinax).
Origin
Bahamas, Florida’s Southeastern coast (U.S.A.)
Habitat
Open forests, often close to the coast.
Morphology
An attractive, solitary palm with a slender trunk covered in woven fibres, and a sparse crown of deeply divided leaves with thin dropping segments, dark green above and silvery-white below.
Climate
This palm has tolerated temperatures down to –4.7ºC (23.5ºF, USDA Zone 9a), although it is basically for tropical and subtropical climate.

Needs a sunny, moist, but well-drained position. Tolerant of exposed coastal situations. Slow growing.
