Dominican Republic.
Habitat
In spite of its common name, this palm grows only at around 1800-1900 m above sea level. Found in the hillock of Nalga de Maco, in the central mountain chain, 20 Km from the Haiti borders.
Morphology
A medium sized fan palm, up to 4 m tall, with a slender trunk and a small crown of robust, circular fan leaves.

Needs a sunny, moist, but well-drained position. Will grow in deep shade thru to full sun.
