Origin
South Brazil.
Habitat
Open areas and Araucaria forests.
Morphology
Similar to B. capitata, differs for its woolly spathes. May have woolly or green fronds. Up to 6 m tall. Fruit ovoid and yellowish.
Climate
Subtropical to temperate. This palm has tolerated temperatures down to –9.4ºC (15ºF, USDA Zone 8b).

Growing
Slightly difficult for cultivation and not really common. Needs lots of sun and a well-drained soil.
