Origin
Central America.
Habitat
Hills in rainforests.
Morphology
A single trunk, usually erect, up to 4 m tall and 3 cm in diameter. Four to 6 pinnate leaves, 2 m long, and with 8-10 leaflets on each side, oblong or lanceolate. Fruits oblong, black, with an orange-coloured stalk.
Climate
Tropical and subtropical.
Germination
Fresh seeds take 1 to 3 months to germinate. Optimum temperature germination is 25 ºC.
Growing
Appropriate as indoor plant. Prefers shade.
