Mexico.
Habitat
Rainforest at 500 to 1000 m above sea level, on limestone soil. Threatened species in habitat.
Morphology
A single trunk up to 5 m tall and only 3 cm in diameter. Pinnate leaves, with 40 to 80 pairs of leaflets with acute apex. Greyish leaflets, yellowish flowers, and black fruits.
Climate
Can adapt to temperate climate, rather frost resistant, although it does better in tropical or subtropical climate. This plant has tolerated temperatures down to –2.2ºC (28ºF, USDA Zone 9b).

This is the palm of this genus that tolerates more light intensity. Grows well in groups.
