Mexico.

Habitat

Rainforest at low altitude, often on limestone soil.

Morphology

Twelve to 16 leaves with a characteristic greenish-blue colour and a metallic shine. Inflorescencegrowing among the leaves. Fruits are rounded to ovoid , and black.

Climate

Tropical to warm temperate. This palm has tolerated temperatures down to –2.2ºC (28ºF, USDA Zone 9b).
