Morphology

A single trunk, with irregular rings, and swollen in its base. A showing crown, usually green or bluish green, but sometimes whitish or yellowish. Pinnate leaves, often arched. Fruits red.

Climate

This palm has tolerated temperatures down to –2.2ºC (28ºF, USDA Zone 9b).

Germination

Seeds usually germinate without problem.

Growing

Can be grown in full sun or light shade, likes a moist but well-drained position.
