Habitat

Grows in open areas, in moist tropical climate.

Morphology

A smooth, light, single trunk, swollen at the base, and with indistinct growth rings and a green crownshaft. The pinnate leaves are arched, and the segments are induplicate (“V”-shaped) and twisted. Fruits are bright red.

Climate

Tropical and subtropical.

Germination

Seeds take around 1-2 months to germinate.

Growing

Frost sensitive. Needs a very warm climate and shelter from dry winds. Requires a sunny, well–drained position, and plenty of water.
