Origin
Bahamas and Mexico (Golf area).
Habitat
Coastal areas, on limestone or sandy soil, often on sandy dunes.
Morphology
An attractive, medium sized, solitary fan palm to 6 m tall, with a slender, smooth trunk and dark green, glossy, circular fan leaves with drooping leaf tips.
Climate
Tropical, subtropical and warm temperate. This plant has tolerated temperatures down to –2.5ºC (27.5ºF, USDA Zone 9b).
Germination
Fresh seeds quickly germinate, in 2 to 4 months.
Growing
Water only when soil has dried out, doesn’t like wet feet. Can be grown in full sun even as a youngster.
