Leaves are used to make hats and baskets.
Origin
Madagascar.
Habitat
Grows in hills of very dry areas, on poor, rocky and sandy soils.
Morphology
A middle-sized palm, with a single trunk up to 8m tall and only some cm in diameter. Gracefully arched pinnate leaves. Unarmed palm, without crownshaft. Yellowish fruits.
Climate
This palm has tolerated temperatures down to –2.2ºC (28ºF, USDA Zone 9b).

Drought resistant. Needs full sun and a very well drained position. Quite e slow grower.
