Sabal is probably the American native name. The fruit flesh is edible, attracts birds and other animals. Beccari named this palm Sabal principes, principes was used for a long time to name the palms family.

Bermuda.
Habitat
Morphology
A grey, single trunk up to 7 m tall and 35 cm in diameter, with a big crown of green leaves. Pear-shaped fruits, around 18 mm, black when ripe.
Climate
Tropical to temperate. Can adapt extremely well to temperate climate. This palm has tolerated temperatures down to –8.8ºC (16.3ºF, USDA Zone 8b).

Easy.
Growing
One of the most fast growing Sabal. Frost tolerant. Good for cultivation.
